DOPs & IOPs

In order to locate the Direct Object (DO) in a sentence you must ask yourself this question:

• What is the DOP?

• Who is the subject?

• Who or what is being verbed?

A Direct Object Pronoun (DOP) does all of the following EXCEPT:

• Replace a Direct Object (DO)

• Make a sentence less specific

• Replaces a noun

• Replaces a verb

The Direct Object Pronouns (DOPs) are:

• me te lo/la nos os los/las

• me te se nos os se

• me te le nos os les

Direct Object Pronouns (DOPs) must be placed everywhere EXCEPT:

• before a negative command

• after an infinitive

• before a conjugated verb

• before an affirmative command

Replace DO with DOP: "Yo leo los libros"

• Yo los leo

• Yo las leo

Replace DO with DOP: "Ella tiene la mochila"

• Ella tienela

• Ella lo tiene

• Ella la tiene
