The Stamp Act (1765)

• Gives England a monopoly on a one particular good.

• Representatives from across the colonies meet in Philadelphia to discuss their opposition to British Policy

• Taxes on many imported goods.

• Tax on all printed materials (wills, newspapers, playing cards, etc).

The Boston Massacre (March 5, 1770)

• Series of laws passed by the British to control the colonists and punish them for the Boston Tea Party

• Patriots taunt British soldiers. Soldiers panic and shoot 5 people.

• Patriots protest British taxes by destroying a large quantity of a particular good.

• A law created by King George to encourage colonists to stop smuggling goods.

This American victory was the turning point in the American Revolutionary war and encouraged the French to join forces with them (the Americans).
