A leopard never changes its spots.

• Leopards camouflage well.

• It's impossible for a person to change their character, even if they will try very hard.

All that glitters may not be gold.

• Gold is really expensive and valuable.

• All that seems good and true actually may not be.

An apple a day keeps the doctor away.

• Doctors eat a lot of apples.

• Eat healthy food to stay healthy.

A stitch in time saves nine.

• It's better to spend a little time and effort to deal with a problem right now than to wait until later, when it may get worse and take longer to deal with.
• Sewing saves time.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

• You see beauty with your eyes.

• Different people have different ideas and values on what is beautiful.

The grass isn’t always greener on the other side.

• A different situation or circumstance always seems better than your own; other people's lives always seem more comfortable, pleasant, etc. than our own.
• People's lives are better than yours.

Never judge a book by its cover.

• Don’t judge a person or object’s worth just by the outward appearance.
• You can see what a book is about by looking at the cover.

A bad workman always blames his tools.

• Tools are important in a job.

• When someone says that something they have done is not of good quality because they did not have the correct tools/ skills to do it with, buy they actually did not have good enough skills.

Absence makes the heart grow fonder.

• When you are not around the people who you love for a long time, you realise how much you love them, miss them and want to spend time with them.
• Its good for loved people to go away.

A chain is only as strong as its weakest link.

• No matter how strong/ talented a group of people are, they will always be brought down/ disappointed by the weakest person.
• Chains can be weak.
