NJROTC Leadership

The first rule for a new leader is to

• Get even with cadets that have angered you in the past

• Set the best example possible

• Start giving orders

• Take advantage of the privileges afforded the leader

As you develop your leadership skills, you must remember three things: Know yourself, know your business, and

• know your rights

• know your chain of command

• know you peers

• know your personnel

Respect from subordinates must be

• earned

• demanded

• desired

• bought

Because leaders cannot do everything themselves, it is important that they

• instill fear in their subordinates

• delegate authority

• do the best they can

• give up responsibility

When a cadet is supportive of the organization, he/she is showing

• optimism

• courtesy

• loyalty

• honesty

Essential qualities of a leader include

• sense of responsibility

• faith

• modesty

• all of the above

The cadet who does not glorify him/herself and is not boastful about him/herself, is showing

• confidence

• modesty

• judgment

• tact

The cadet who demonstrates a "can do" attitude is demonstrating

• honesty

• optimism

• pessimism

• loyalty

To do his/her job, a leader must associate with seniors, peers, and the general public. These associations are called

• magnetic quality

• effective leadership

• personal relations

• essential courage

Leadership depends on three things: the leader, the follower, and

• the situation at hand
