We use *** with singular, countable nouns mentioned for the first time.

• a/an -> "A blue car came round the corner"

• the - > "The blue car came round the corner."

We use ** to talk about jobs.

We do not use a or an with *** nouns.

Use ** before words which begin with a vowel sound.

When the letters 'u' and 'e' produce a 'y' sound, use ***.

When 'h' is silent, use ***.

• a -> a hour; a honest man.

*** is used with things we have mentioned before or when it's clear who or what we are referring to.
