The neighborhood that Nick works near. It's covered in ashes from all the house fires that occurred in year's past. Now the neighborhood is mostly vacant.

A long desolate road that separates the two Eggs. It's dangerous to drive at night and it's where many people have passed away.

Doctor Eckleburg's eyes are mentioned repeatedly throughout Chapter 2. Symbolically, what might those eyes on that billboard represent?

The eyes on the billboard are like the eyes of God, watching over the sinful acts of the people who live in the shadow of the sign.

The reader should pay close attention to the billboard because it's probably going to be significant later on.

Eyes symbolize the center of truth. What he sees with those eyes are meant to be understood as the ultimate truth.

Looks can be deceiving. When he looks at the billboard one should understand that as being misconstrued by others.
