History of Sports!

Greece was responsible for:

• The first Olympic Games

• The creation of Cricket

• The first Winter Games

The picture above shows a sport that was created all the way in Greece, called "Marathon". It was created in the honor of:

• A horse that ran over 56km looking for his owner

• A soldier that ran over 42km to warn his kingdom of enemies approaching

• A boat that sailed over 200km in order to find the China

In the Middle Ages, sports were seen as practice for real life situations, and also, there were different sports between the __________ and the _______

• Rich / Poor

• Healthy / Sick

• Europeans / Asian

"Fencing", as pictured above, is a sport created in France, where two people duel with swords. Today, this sport:

• Is banned across all countries in the world, because its way too violent.

• Is only practiced for fun

• Is part of the Olympics

Jousting was seen as a sport that only rich people could participate. Why?

• Because only the rich had horses

• Because you needed a lot of money to participate

• Because you had to be a noble to participate

The Britsh Empire was responsible for:

• Creating a lot of rules to a lot of different sports, such as Soccer

• Not creating a single sport, despite being so big

• Just creating Soccer and no other sport

In 2020, two sports that became popular in the USA finally became part of the Olympics, and they were:

• Soccer and Basketball

• Skateboarding and Surfing

• Chess and Surfing

This year marks the fourth time the Olympics were ever delayed, because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The other three were caused by:

• An earthquake, a flood, and a forest fire

• The American Civil War, and the First World War

• Once with the First World War, and two times with the Second World War
