• any part of your computer that has a physical structure

• applications that are more difficult to use

• different parts such as the keyboard, harddrive, motherboard and central processor

• the same as the Operating System

Software includes...

• any set of instructions that tells the computer what to do and how to do it

• Applications and programs that you use to do different tasks on the computer

• Operating Systems that control the way the applications and hardware work together

• CD disks, and USB flash drives and DVDs

How did the internet get started?

• Bill Gates of Microsoft had so much money he created the internet.

• Russian hackers created the internet to distract Americans from working and learning.

• Ms. Fleming needed a way to post homework assignments and invented the internet.

• It started as a research project by the US Defense Department in the 1970's. They wanted a communications system that could still work if a part of it was attacked.

Who owns or controls the internet?

• Governments own the internet.

• Facebook and Twitter control the internet.

• The internet is not owned by any company or country or person.

• Anyone can post or contribute to the internet if they have the right hardware, software and access to internet (usually through an internet service provider like Comcast ).
