Adages and Proverbs

Although I was still mad at my cousin for losing my book, I decided to let sleeping dogs lie and not mention it again.

• It is better not to restart an old argument
• It is better to let your relatives' pets sleep on the floor

Better ....................... than never.

Let's get up at 6 am to make it to the store before the crowds arrive.  Early bird gets the worm!

• If you start something early you have a better chance of succeeding.
• Birds get up early to find worms.
• If you get up early, you will find the worms you want.
• Birds that like worms need to get up early.

I think your book needs some work, but don't throw the baby out with the bathwater. You don't need to start all over.

• It is not safe to give small children baths.
• Don't get rid of your little brother or sister after they take a bath.
• Save everything.
• Don't get rid of something completely because part of it is not perfect.

You cannot leave the kitten because it was rude to you. Two wrongs don’t make a right. What does this mean?

• Just because the kitten did something bad doesn't mean you should also.

• It's okay to do something bad if it's done to you first.

• If the kitten had been nicer then you could be nice to it.

• It's always good to take care of kittens.

• If you are patient, good things will come your way
