Superhero

I want to be a superhero

One that flies and saves the day.

I want to be a superhero

Who makes the crowd go YAY!

I’d use my super strength

To stop a runaway train

Or even use my super speed

To catch the robber...like in my video game

However,

I have no costume

I have no cape

I have no powers

For bad guys to escape

I’m just little ol me

So normal

So plain

But when I do the dishes

Or stand up for a friend

The feelings of being super

Never seem to end.

What is the theme of this poem?

I wanted to scream

I wanted to shout

I wanted to let all my words out

I’d go around telling the whole school how kind I could be

How I was an awesome friend I could be

And an outstanding of a student I could be

But people just shook their heads

And gave a sigh

No one even gave me their eye

I kept telling people I was great and spectacular

And that I’ve done all of these things

Some would consider extracurricular

But no one would listen, so I zipped my lips.

I picked up some litter and swept around the house.

I gave everyone a turn and even some tips

I gave a snack to a friend and got water for another

I even helped pick up a friend who was hurt.

And when we got to the nurse everyone was saying

How awesome a friend and student I have been

and how proud I’d make my mother

• Hard work and patience pay off

• Always be yourself

I have big muscles and am super tall

I look like I’d enter a race

And win them all

When I walk in the hallway people stop an stare

They ask what team I’m on

And my favorite shoes to wear

They ask what teams I like and if I want to play

But I don’t play any sports or win any races.

In all reality

I’d love to spend everyday

Reading a book in the library.

It’s the day of the big test

And I hadn’t studied a bit

But I had this little trick

That I could always use quick

And my teacher was never the wiser.

But one test came up

And I decided to use this trick

But little did I know my neighbor knew my trick

So when the results came back and my neighbor they announced, they’d got a big one-hundred!

Imagine my surprise when my paper came back with a number.

What do you think the theme of this poem is?

I wanted to be a dancer

But had no clue at all

The work it takes to to move like them all.

I fell and I stumbled

I tripped and I fumbled

But I got back up and tried again.

First slowly and slowly, every move so carefully

I repeat it again and again and again

Until the moves came naturally

Soon I was dancing no problem at all!

I kept on trying and gave it my all

And now I’m a pro giving lessons to all!
