Mass is how much stuff or material there is of something.
"Massive" is actually an adjective that describes a noun (person, place, thing, or idea)...but it still conveys the idea that there is a lot of "stuff".... think "massive cinnamon roll" and you are imagining a cinnamon roll that has a lot of dough, cinnamon, and frosting. Great! Now I have a "massive" appetite...wait, how can an appetite be "massive." Am I using this word "massive" incorrectly? Wow! This answer has gotten massive.
