Civic Responsibility - TX 7th Grade SS

Civic responsibilities are -

• duties and behaviors expected of all citizens

• illegal actions

• for law enforcement officers only

One of our most basic civic responsibilities is to -

• eat vegetables

• obey the law

• speak two languages

Paying taxes -

• is illegal

• is optional

• is an important civic responsibility

To protect the right to a trial by jury,

• people must commit crimes

• people must eat a healthy diet

• citizens must serve when called (summoned)

It is important for Texas citizens to

• participate in government

• become President

• vote for women only

We can let our leaders know our approval or disapproval by

• participating in sports

• committing crimes

• voting for or against candidates or issues

Because votes affect government policy, citizens have a duty to -

• eat more vegetables

• read Harry Potter books

• stay well informed about issues

Democracy needs people who are willing to -

• serve as elected government officials

• go to school 12 hours a day

• tell others what to do

All U.S. citizens 18 or older have the right to -

• shoplift

• vandalize

• vote

• The Progressives and Independents

• The Loyalists and Communists

• The Democrats and Republicans
