Quick Check - Cells and Homeostasis

Cell that has a nucleus and other membrane-bound organelles (e.g. plant and animal cells)

Cell that does NOT have nucleus or other membrane-bound organelles (e.g. bacteria)

center of photosynthesis (autotrophic nutrition) in plant cells and algae

center for protein synthesis

contains the DNA; the "brain" of the cell

provides structure and strength to plant cells and prokaryotes

center for cellular respiration (ATP energy extraction from glucose); sometimes referred to as the "powerhouse" of the cell

controls what goes in and out of the cell; receives signals from other cells

Which term refers to the maintenance of a stable internal environment in an organism?

Choose the graph that best represents the phrase "dynamic equilibrium." Hint: Homeostasis is dynamic equilibrium in an organism.
