In Ancient China, Confucianism believed in a strict ranking system and strong government. You should respect those with more power than you. It also taught that if you worked hard in school and in life, you could become rich and powerful. In reality, the people who were already rich and powerful stayed at the top, and the hopeless, poor Chinese stayed poor.
