4.10 - Geometric Lines

A location in space. It has no length, width, or height. A point is usually named with a capital letter.

1) Part of a line. It has two endpoints and includes all the points between and including the endpoints.

A collection of points extending infinitely in both directions. It has no endpoints.

Part of a line. It has one endpoint and extends infinitely in one direction.

Formed by two rays that share a common endpoint called the vertex. Angles are found wherever lines or line segments intersect.

Point at which two lines, line segments, or rays meet to form an angle. In solid figures, a vertex is the point at which three or more edges meet.

Lines that cross and have one point in common. They do not form a right angle.

Intersect at right angles. The symbol ⊥ is used to indicate that two lines are perpendicular. They form a square corner where they intersect.

Lines that lie in the same plane and never intersect. Parallel lines are always the same distance apart and do not share any points. The symbol  ∥  indicates that two or more lines are parallel.
