What is the main purpose of a Boycott in your opinion?

A 240-mile trek to the sea, led by Gandhi, to gather salt for free, thus breaking the British colonial monopoly on salt. Gandhi singled out salt because it was heavily taxed. He began 240 mile walk to gather salt from the sea for free. 71 people followed him. In India it was known as the Dandi March, becaus it ended in Dandi.

It comes from the sermon on the Mount from teachings of Jesus. It means to refrain from retaliating (responding with violence) when one has been attacked or insulted. It is believed to be one of the first concrete exampels of Non Violence in history.
