a region in southern Georgia that is a wetland in which it is covered in water all year. Mostly trees and other woody plants grow in soil that does not have many nutrients. A swamp can have fresh or saltwater. The largest freshwater swamp in the United States is in Georgia. It is the Okefenokee Swamp.
