• When the cell becomes larger and its volume increases

• Leaf collection of tissues working together to carry out photosynthesis. Plant cells have organelles called chloroplasts which contain a green pigment chlorophyll. (Anything green in plants can do photosynthesis) 

•  helps protect the plant and prevent water loss. Dermal tissue in the roots is responsible for uptake of water and minerals. For trees/woody plants it is replaced by cork and bark

What is Epidermis?

• a thin layer on the outside of the cell that covers the whole plant 

  It the main function is to FACILITATE GAS EXCHANGE

• The purpose of photosynthesis is to trap the sun's energy and store its chemical potential energy in the bonds of sugar.

• This is found below the epidermis and makes up the majority of the plant. Ground tissue in the leaves of a plant is called mesophyll and is involved in photosynthesis. 

• Cellular respiration is a set of reactions where the bonds of sugar molecules are broken and the chemical potential is released.
