Methacognition strategies for teachers have the following stages:

• 1. Give a writing task

  2. Mark and return student work.

• 1. Set clear objectives of learning.

  2. Monitor and demonstrate student's metacogntion skills, and

  3. Continually encourage and prompt their students along the way

The following statements support metacognition:

• Lecture learners thoroughout the lesson without giving or receiving feedback

• Allowing learners to self assess

• Sharing objective and success criteria with the learners
