What is an inference? 

• Just a random guess
• A prediction or logical conclusions about our observations
• The same as an observation
• deciding if an observation is qualitative or quantitative

An inferences is different from an observation since:

• Inferences are made with your senses

• You make thousands of inferences daily, more so than observations

• It helps to explain something to make sense out of it, observations do not do that.

• Inferencing comes before observation, and it starts the process of science.

This variable in an experiment is the one being deliberately changed by the scientist.
