What is fake news?

• News or stories designed to deliberately misinform or deceive you.

• News or stories which have been fact checked

• News or stories which are 100% true

• News or stories which you can rely on

Clickbait is not/does not......

• Take you to a dubious website often to misinform or deceive you

• Headlines like...."You'll never believe"..... "Things you need to know"...

• Used to by fishermen to catch more fish

• A headline or photo which is designed to get the reader's attention and encourage them to click on a hyperlink to a website

A social media bubble....

• Isolates you from other, different views and opinions

• Doesn't misrepresent other views and opinions so you are misinformed

• Exposes you to lots of different views and opinions so you can be better informed

• Makes your drink fizzy!

Which won't ensure your news and research is safe and true?

• Only ever reading information from one source

• Checking the source of the information - Who wrote it? Are they trustworthy?

• Using fact checking software

• Discussing it with a parent or adult if you are worried or unsure
