A student calls you a name

• Call that student a name

• Take 5 deep breaths

• Leave the classroom without permission

• Shout back at that student

You don’t understand the math problem

• Raise your hand to ask for help

• Start ripping your paper

• Ask a friend for help

• Give up and put your head down

You feel your body has a lot of extra energy

• Get out of your seat without permission

• Ask to take a movement break

• Ask to use a fidget

• Ask if you can stand and do work, instead of sitting

A student pushes you during PE

• Push the student back

• Call the student a name

• Walk away

• Tell the student to please stop

You are upset about something that happened at home

• Ask to take a break

• Let your teacher know how you are feeling on the mood meter

• Put your head down and refuse to do work

• Hangout in the hallway without a pass

It’s hard for you to concentrate on you work and it's still not done

• Set a 5 minute timer and see how many problems you can do

• Stop trying

• fold my paper in half so there is less to do

• highlight or circle a few problems to work on

You and a student disagree about something

• Agree to disagree

• Continue to argue with the student until they agree with you

• Say, "okay" and walk away

• Call them wrong and push them

You are really mad

• Write your feelings down in a journal

• Walk out of class without permission

A student sitting next to you keeps distracting you

• Get off task and start talking to them

• Ask if you can move to a different desk
