Carburetor heat is designed to melt ice that can form in the throat of a carburetor. If carburetor icing is suspected then carb heat must be applied. Match the length of time to the carb icing conditions below for moderate icing conditions

• If icing is experienced between 5-15min after the first application of carb heat, the carb heat should be applied for 8-12sec.

• Carb heat may be permanently required and the mixture safely leaned to allow for optimum de-icing conditions. Once icing has cleared, richen the mixture and set carb heat to cold.

• If icing is experienced up to 5min after the first application of carb heat, the carb heat should be applied for 30sec.
