Magic (Sihr) Year 9

the study of natural phenomena, called white or natural magic,

• was practiced by Prophet Sulayman and the angels, Haaroot and Maaroot

• developed into modern natural sciences

• was also known as sorcery when practiced by a woman possessed by demons

Magic may be defined as

• the seeming control of natural forces by rituals

• the belief that communication may be made with the dead

• the study of natural phenomena which developed into modern day sciences

• the control of natural forces by Allah's will with the help of the good jin

Haaroot and Maaroot were

• two jins sent to test the faith of the Babylonians with magic

• two angels who tested the belief of the Babylonians by teaching them magic

• two angels sent down by Allah to make Jew follow Prophet Sulayman

The verse, "verily we are only a test and trial, so do not commit disbelief"

• proves that Haaroot and Maaroot were disbelieving angels

• proves that learning magic is an act of kufr(disbelief)

• was statement made by Prophet Sulayman when the Prophet came to him to learn magic

magic is...

• has no reality to it and affects only those who believe in it

• is a product of contact with the jinn

• is of two types: trickery using gadgets and the pyschological controls of the human mind

• was practised by Ali ibn Abi Talib on Prophet Muhammad

The last two surah of the Quran were

Exorcism is

• the entrance of the jinn into the bodies of human beings

• the removal of demons from the bodies of human being possessed by the jinn

• the removal of jinn from human beings whom they had possessed

The jinn leave human beings during exorcism by Christian priests because

• the jinn cannot stand to be the presence of the cross which the priest waves over the body of the possessed person

• shirk has been confirmed, which was all it wanted from the possession

• the jinn are unable to stay in the bodies of human beingfor very long period
