• Supposed to transfer the main ideas in a text to another language

• One of the key excercises in the Bavarian abitur

What are tools to help you write a mediation?

• Learning words from a dictionary by heart

• Write and read a lot in english

• Watch boring sitcoms with german subtitles in the english language

• Listen to fun and engaging podcasts in the english language

The best way to approach a new text is…

• Use a lot of time for accurate and intense reading of the main text

• Scanning through the text

• Highlight the most important points

• Just start writing

How do you deal with new vocabulary in mediations?

• Try to translate every single word perfectly

• Search for every word in the dictionary

• Try to paraphrase (Sätze umstellen)

• leave them out or describe them differently with words you already know

• Look up only important words in the dictionary

Mediations are…

• Boring

• Very hard
