Giving makes you happy and healthy. According to a study conducted by the National Institute of Health, interesting things happen when people give to a charity. A part of the brain associated with pleasure is activated. Giving also releases endorphins, producing a feeling of happiness. Giving is also linked to good health. This is probably because generous people enjoy decreased stress.

What if you cannot afford to donate money? Then you can give your time and effort. Here are some ideas: Offer to help elderly family members or neighbors. Elderly people often need assistance, and many don’t want to ask for help. Organize a yard sale in your community and donate the money earned. People who give of themselves are a special breed. Their generosity makes it possible for others to experience joy.
