7 Wonders of Ukraine

The most unique 13-domed structure of ancient Rus' architecture. It is the most ancient Christian church that is fully preserved in the East Slavic area. It perpetuates the most complete in the world ensemble of original mosaics and frescoes of the 11th century – 260 square meters of mosaics and 3000 square meters of frescoes.

This park was grounded in 1796 by magnate and owner of the town of Uman Stanislav Pototskiy and was named as a tribute to his wife. Today everybody can find there thousands of exotic plants in landscapes, mythological plots from Ancient Greece and Rome, a number of sculptures, mostly antique ones, artificial cliffs, grottoes, and gazebos.

Ancient City was founded by Dorian Greeks in the 5th century BC on the northern shores of the Black Sea. In the 3rd century AD, the site was known as the most productive wine center of the Black Sea and remained a hub of exchange between the Greek, Roman, and Byzantine Empires and populations north of the Black Sea. Its ruins still remember the times of slavery, struggle for territories, conquests, and falls.

This fortress is a complex of fortifications located in the Chernivtsi region. It consists of a 13th-century stronghold and an 18th-century bastion surrounding it. It is one of the oldest preserved fortifications of Eastern Europe. The first castle had wooden walls and earth ramparts, and it was possibly constructed in the early 11th century by Volodymyr the Great. The films "Zakhar Berkut", "Taras Bulba" and many others were shot here.

The largest island on the Dnipro river, is located In Zaporizhzhia, below the Dnipro Hydroelectric Power Station. It has played an important role in the history of Ukraine, especially in the history of the Zaporozhian Cossacks. The island has unique flora and fauna, including oak groves, spruce woods, meadows, and steppe.

The 12th-century ancient fortress and the “old city”, which preserved its authenticity, are the main objects of the Reserve. On the territory of the present-day castle in the IX-XII centuries was a citadel with earthworks and a wooden wall, which protected the Slavic settlement of the Kingdom of Galicia–Volhynia. In total, there are about 200 historical and architectural monuments.
