Parts of Microscope

Arm

• On the side of the microscope is used to support it when it is carried
• Holds the objective lenses and is able to rotate to change magnification
• Moves the stage slightly to help you sharpen or fine tune your view of the specimen

Base

Body

• Used to hold a slide in place on the stage
• Connects the eyepiece to the objectives
• Allows you to view the image on the stage and contains the ocular lens
• Parts of the microscope that supports the slide that is being viewed

Coarse Adjustment Knob

• On the side of the microscope is used to support it when it is carried

• Moves the stage up and down to help you get the specimen into view
• Found on the nosepiece and range from low to high power

Diaphragm

• The bottom part of the microscope

Eyepiece

Fine Adjustment Knob
