Making Inference BI&CK

If you forget to return your library book, you can infer that:

• You will have to pay a fine.

• They will take away your library card.

• You can't read very well.

• The library must be closed.

If you see someone with a cast on their leg, you can infer that:

• They will have a cast on their arm too 

• They broke their leg 

• They will have to wear the cast for 6 months 

• They fell off a horse 

If you go to a birthday party, you can infer that:   

• There will be a clown 

• There  will be cake 

• The person is turning 10 

• You will have a bad time 

If you see someone holding an umbrella, what can you infer:

• It might rain

• They hurt themselves

• They live in Malaysia

• Today is a sunny day

If your teacher is out of school today, you can infer that:  

•  You won't have any  homework 

•  The substitute teacher will be mean 

• The rules don't apply for today 

• The teacher is either sick or out of town 

If you see a fire engine on your street, you can infer that:   

• A cat is in a tree 

• Someone accidentally burned themselves 

•  The police will show up too 

•  Someone had a type of emergency 

If your best friend is not in school one day, you can infer that:  

•  They are out sick or on vacation 

•   They are never coming back 

•   They moved to a new state 

•  They went to the wrong school by accident 

If your cat is standing by its food bowl, you can infer that:   

• They love you 

•  They are hungry 

•  They need to use the bathroom 

If your electricity goes out, you can infer that:   

• A tree fell on the powerlines 

•  You will never have lights again 

• Your water will be off too 

•  Something happened to the power 

If you see someone fall off of their bike, you can infer that::   T
