Answers may include: A french seam is the most appropriate seam finish as it fully encloses raw edges providing a clean, neat and professional finish, both inside and outside the garment. It is appropriate for the end use of silk satin as it does not compromise the raw edges of the fabric through overlocking which can add bulk to the seam and therefore affect the delicate drape of the garment. A rolled hem could be applied to the hemline of the dress without effecting the drape or the overall drape of the garment. An invisible zipper could be applied to the side seam or centre back seam as a closure which becomes invisible, therefore does not effect the overall shape of the garment or the drape of the seam line.
