Pt to respond to intrinsic feedback from the body

Pt has to teach themselves to make self corrections on their own other than relying

Pt to respond to extrinsic feedback from the body

Pt at this stage doesn't need goals

However if you allow the Pt. to continue to perform the task without self correcting, then you are reinforcing the wrong motor program

Progressive/Sequential-Part learning

Practicing a task in its entirety. -Simple/discrete motor tasks that have a definite beginning and end generally require whole learning.

Used for complex activities where component parts are discrete motor programs by themselves. (parts do not need to be practiced in a specific order)

Used when teaching serial tasks that require many steps that have to be performed in a specific sequence to be successful

Complete whole task (allow task analysis). Clinician breaks down task into separate components. Re-completes whole task
