Toward the head, top, above, upper

Anterior or Ventral

Toward the midline, middle

Vertical plane running from side to side; divides body or any 

of it’s parts into anterior and posterior

away from or farthest from the trunk or the point of origin of a part

away from the head; lower, bottom, below

A vertical plane running 

from front to back; divides the body or 

any of its parts into right and left sides

toward or nearest the trunk (chest and abdomen), or the point to foreign of a part

Posterior or dorsal

away from the midline of the body; toward the side
