Meditation verse for the Book of Nehemiah Chapters 7&8
Chapter 7, Jerusalem now with gates and walls, Nehemiah next cares to see the city well kept, occupied with people, which he reviews the register of families of the captivity who returned at first, and records it. God's Jerusalem is to flourish when those have charge of it, who excel in virtues, godliness, dedication, and honesty.
Chapter 8, Ezra came up out of Babylon thirteen years before Nehemiah, he did a piece of good work but was not finished till Nehemiah came, who was not a scribe in the law of God as Ezra, but was a man of an active spirit. His zeal set Ezra's learning on work, and then great things were done that led to the joy which the people were ordered to express.
