Steps for Desmos:

1) Enter the table of points

2) In spot #2 type:  y1∼a(x1−h)2+k             

  • remember Desmos will automatically format the 1's to be subscripts

  • remember this is our generic quadratic just we are identifying that we want the calculator to use the x and y from the table of step 1.

3) Desmos generates the line and tells you:

r2 = how close your data was to this line 

(close to +1 or -1 is strong (i.e. good); close to 0 is weak)    

a = the a for your equation

h = the h for your equation

k = the k for your equation

4) Write the parabola's equation down using those values and use it to make predictions.
