A scientific investigation in which one variable (the independent variable) is changed, and all others are controlled, or kept the same.

The variable in an experiment whose value is determined by the experiment. (i.e. what you measure as a result of the purposeful change).

Vibrations within Earth caused by the sudden release of energy, usually as a result of the movement of rocks along a fault.
