WCA 6. Multisite

One disadvantage of a WordPress multisite network is that:

• Most hosting providers charge less to host a WordPress multisite network than a WordPress single site.

One advantage of a WordPress multisite network is that:

• Users may be allowed to log in to multiple sites across the network with a single account

• Changes to one site will not affect other sites in the multisite network

• Multisites automatically have an SSL certificate issued by WordPress

• Installing WordPress multisite is faster and simpler than installing WordPress single site

• Multisites have greater functionality, so there is no need to install plugin

When moving a website from a WordPress multisite network to a WordPress single site:

• The user must backup all sites in the network

• There must be a domain available to move the single site to

• Wordpress automatically updates the DNS to direct to the new single site

• The user must install the “WP Single Site” plugin from the WordPress Plugin Library

• The user must have a role of Administrator or higher

When converting a WordPress single site to a WordPress multisite:

• All plugins must be disabled

• All themes except the default theme must be deleted

• All plugins must be enabled

• All users except the administrator must be deleted

• All plugins must be deleted
