"Do not judge me by my successes, judge me by how many times I fell down and got back up again." Nelson Mandela.
Do think Mandela is encouraging reflection of the lows and highs of experiences?
True
False
Answer explanation
What were the low and high points?
The low points centered around grasping an understanding of the statistical tests. I struggled with the intricacies of data analysis and determining which test fits particular research questions. There were moments when I felt completely lost in a sea of numbers and statistical jargon. However, reaching out to classmates to study together helped enormously.
The highlights have been those “aha” moments when concepts suddenly clicked. When I performed my first Paired Samples T Test and understood how to interpret the results, I felt a huge sense of accomplishment. Seeing the connections between statistics methodologies, the research process and drawing data-driven conclusions has been enlightening. I am slowly gaining confidence in quantitative data analysis.

When there is a strong positive correlation between enrolment in the EDRS8910 Quantitative Design Research Projects and new learnings, we can say that the correlation between the two variables is si___f_c__t.
Answer explanation
Was there something new you learnt or is there something you knew before but got some aspects of it clarified?
Completing numerous analytical tests and interpreting the statistical outputs represented an area of new learning for me in this course. While, I had been exposed to a Survey Design Course in my undergraduate degree, I did not grasp the meaningful implications behind the numbers. This often left me confused and overwhelmed, at times even in tears because I simply did not understand. The practice exercises and readings in this course helped me to learn about interpreting the findings. Beyond just looking at the numbers, I now understand how these statistical tests help answer key research questions and reveal new insights.

“If we teach today’s students as we taught yesterday’s, we rob them of tomorrow.” John Dewey What does this quote mean?
As educators we should align our teaching methods with the learning styles of the students.
As educators we should not align our teaching methods with the learning styles of the students.
Answer explanation
How would you describe the teaching and learning environment created in the course and did it suit your learning preference?
The live synchronous sessions with Dr. Leah Garner O'Neale offered helpful clarification of concepts. While the course shell provided useful information, discussions with classmates aided my understanding of the material. As a multimodal learner who struggles with Mathematics, I benefited from the combination of video tutorials, interactive live classes and peer support. These appealed to my visual, auditory and kinesthetic preferences. I appreciated the ability to replay the ZOOM sessions so that I could take my time to assimilate the concepts and practice on SPSS/PSPP.

Answer explanation
What would you have done differently in terms of your approach to the course?
Regarding my approach to this course, in retrospect, I would have benefitted from better preparation and time management. Starting assignments earlier and reviewing course materials such as practice tests before lectures would have allowed me to follow along and comprehend the lessons more effectively. My lack of familiarity with some content often left me confused in class. Developing a more diligent work ethic and structured study schedule from the outset could have significantly improved my learning and performance.
