Middle School Intervals

An interval in music is the distance between

• two clefs.

• two time signatures.

• two pitches (or notes).

• two instruments.

There are 2 types of intervals in music - pics next to type

• Harmonic - Two notes that are played at the same time

• 
• Melodic - Two notes that are played consecutively (one after another)

•

When trying to figure out intervals...

• first, start with the first or bottom note and call it 1

• then, count up by lines and spaces until you reach the top note.

• The example interval is a 3rd.
