Pollution

Pollution is when materials that are harmful to people, plants, and animals are released into the environment. Pollution can happen to our landforms because of chemicals that destroy soil nutrients. It can happen to bodies of water when toxic chemicals enter rivers and lakes. In the air we breathe, it can be exhaust fumes from cars.

Some pollution happens all at once, like a big oil spill. Other times, it is hard for us to see. This is because it happens slowly, like plastic filling the ocean. Little things we do add up to create big problems.
