How Do You Feel Personally About Casting Your Vote In USA Elections?

I don't plan to vote. I'm with Obi Wan on this: you will never find a more wretched hive of slime and villainy than in politics.

I don't really pay attention now, but will take a look when I can vote.

It's cool. I'm growing up I guess and I'm starting to develop my own opinions on laws and leadership.

I am excited to cast my vote; it is an essential freedom in our democracy.

MULTIPLE CHOICE QUESTION

30 sec • Ungraded

Do you think teachers and pastors should promote their political views? (Choose the response that most closely fits your views).

Never, because our country is based on a separation of church and state. Leaders, who are not running for office, inevitably insert their own religious or anti-religious motives.

No, because politics is a personal decision that should not be discussed outside the home.

Yes, if they have a relationship students or church members they have a duty to promote what is moral and right.

Yes, no one should be afraid to promote what they believe. It's a free country and free speech is guaranteed.

MULTIPLE CHOICE QUESTION

30 sec • Ungraded

Where and when is the right setting for discussing our political viewpoints? (Choose the response that is closest to your views).

I never want to talk about politics with anyone. Not about what happened on Jan. 6 or in the 2020 election. I don't want to talk about 2024 either. It's too stressful!

Family dinners or when hanging out with friends; as long as we all agree. I don't like to hang out with people on the other side.

The right setting is tricky because the political divide is deep. But we need to learn how to discuss politics, because it's important for our nation and personal relationships.

Only on the internet where we can say horrible things to people who we don't agree with. I wish I could promote my political views effectively everywhere!

How do you feel about using this controversial topic--the 2020 election results--as a thinking exercise in math class?

I don't like it! It's too close to real life and math and real life should never merge!

I'm a little nervous about expressing my thoughts because people may disagree and ridicule me.

It's fine because the goal is not to make everyone believe the same thing. It's more interesting than homework out of the book.

I think this topic is important as part of a national discussion about election integrity. I'm glad we are tackling hard topics that impact my future.
