What are two examples of legal obligations a worker has in a workplace?

• Provide PPE & make sure Friday is treat day

Duty of care can be defined as....

• The legal obligation to ensure the safety of your team and no-one else

• Dangerous goods classification. They are classified as dangerous for transport by road, rail, sea or air.

• Gases. They are classified as dangerous for confined spaces and persons who are asthmatic.

• Flammables. They are classified as dangerous for chemical storage facilities and petrol stations.

Identify the sign and determine its meaning.

• Confined space. These signs are located outside spaces which provide less movement flexibility.

• Turbine. This sign indicates that a rotational blade is in the space and could possibly cause harm or injury.

• Caution. These signs are yellow to advise workers to proceed with caution in the space.

• Radiation. These signs are located where radioactive materials are handled. Used to protect people from being exposed to radiation.

Infection control is important in any industry. Why is it important in the sport, aquatic and recreation sector?

• Because there is water, sweat and other fluids involved that could aid in the transmission of infections.

• Infection control is important as it prevents the spread of infections, it keeps both customers and staff safe.

• It isnt because you cannot get an infection from going to a community space.

• Infection control can only be spread of there is body to body contact between patrons.

You answer the phone while on duty and the person on the other end of the line has advised they have left a bomb in the facility. What emergency procedures do you follow as the person taking the call?

• Let the caller finish what they are saying while noting down gender, accent, time of call, any important information.

• Ask questions such as where was the bomb left, will it go off at a particular time, what does it look like.

• Once the call is finished notify your Manager with all the details you got from the phone call.

• Evacuate the facility using the bomb threat procedures and call 000
