MULTIPLE CHOICE QUESTION

Use "Scream Machines" to answer this question. Which of the following BEST summarizes this passage?
The first roller coaster in America was the Switchback Railway. It was similar in design to the French roller coaster. Russian ice slices, an older type of coaster ride, did not have wheels. On the older rides, humans had to pull the cars to the top of the hills. Now machines do that, after which potential energy takes over.
Today's roller coasters can take uou as high as 600 feet above the ground and speed you downhill at an amazing 100 miles per hour. It all started back in the 8th century when the Russians invented their famous ice slides. America's first roller coaster, the wooden Switchback Railway, opened at Coney Island in 1884.
Three centuries ago the Russians invented the wooden ice slide. La Marcus A. Thomson introduced the Switchback Railway at Coney Island Amusement Park in New York. Before that, the French had invented a similar ride. Today's roller coasters still use kinetic energy to power the rides and thrill riders all over the world.
The history of "coaster" rides based on potential and kinetic energy most likely began with the Russian ice slide of the 1700s. The French and Americans created similar rides from wood, adding wheeled cars and looping tracks. Today's steel roller coasters use modern technology to reach great heights and speeds.
