What is one item you need every day for math class?

What is something else that you should have out on your desk and opened at the start of class?

• Laptop

• Workbook

• Phones

• Notebook

Why is it important to bring needed materials to class every day?

• To succeed academically.

• It makes my teacher happy.

• You need to be responsible. 

• So, I don't lose it.

Johnny walks into class wearing his lanyard and has appropriate materials for class, but is missing 1 or 2 materials that is needed. .  After he takes a seat, he pulls out his labeled folder and textbook for math to begins the bell ringer.  Mr. Robinson notices that Johnny doesn't have one of his materials and prompts him to get it.  Johnny says it's in his backpack in another class, so Mr. Robinson tells him to find a friend to borrow a pencil.  Johnny asks Fred if he can borrow one of his pencils and Fred says yes. 

Student needed 1 to 2 prompts to follow through with mastering bringing materials to class.  Student will follow through with the prompting and gathers materials needed.

Where do we keep track of assignments for math class?

Why is it important to keep track of assignments?

• Organization is an important life skill

• As you go to high school you will have more assignments, quizzes, and tests to keep track of.  You also will be busier with extracurricular activities or jobs. 

• Important to remind yourself of important dates, not just assignments.

• You need to get work submitted on the due date to do well in school.

Johnny pulls out his workbook and writes down the assignment for math class.

Johnny sits and ignores the teacher when they tell him to pull out their agenda and record the assignment.  Mr. Robinson notices and prompts him 3+ times to record the assignment.  Johnny eventually pulls out his paper agenda and writes down the assignment for math class. (Or Johnny refuses to write down the assignment)
