1. Explain the purpose of the Indian Removal Act of 1830. 

Answer explanation

In 1830, the United States Congress and President Andrew Jackson passed the Indian Removal Act. The purpose of this law was to remove Native Americans living in the South and relocate them to lands west of the Mississippi River. Jackson said that he wanted “whites” and Native Americans to live separately. Americans also wanted to mine and farm the fertile land occupied by “The Five Civilized Tribes.”
