What is a preference card?

• The percentage concentration of the active ingredient in a disinfectant or chemical sterilant

• A written statement providing detailed information about a chemical or toxic substance.

What is FIFO and what do we use it?

• A stock rotation system whereby the oldest product is used first

What are yellow tags and why don't we pull them first?

• Yellow tags are to show the set has been sitting longer for 3 months.

  We don't pull them first because we want to give the OR a fresh set.

• Yellow tags are to indicate there are missing instruments in the sets.

  We don't pull them first because we want to give the OR a set that has a full count sheet.

• Sets that have yellow tags are supposed to go out to other facilities.

  We don't pull them first because they are getting ready to get sent out.

• Yellow tags are for the sets that are over a year old and they need to get reprocessed instead of getting sent up to the OR

What is a case cart ?

• A setup for a specific scheduled procedure in the future. Uses a preference card to tell us every set the doctor will need for this procedure

• List of specific supplies, utensils and instruments for a specific procedure

• A cart that provides instruments that are going outbound

• A cart full of unsterile instruments that are ready to go in to the sterilizer

What does open and hold mean on a preference card?

Multiple choice.

• Open means to place the instruments on the middle level of the cart.

Why don't we put rigid containers on top of blue wrap?

What is a STAT?

• A case that is usually for the next day or the day after that.

Why is the locate function so important?

• So you know where instrument sets are at when building cases or needing it for traumas.

• So we know which sets need to get sent out for repair.

• To help locate team members to see where they are at.

• To help locate different case carts that are needed to get sent up to the OR for a case.

Why is it important to double check scans when we input cases in Abacus?

Multiple choice.

• To make sure that all sets are scanned to the case properly

  Making sure if we were to locate a set, it would pop up on the case it got scanned on.
