The Javan rhinoceros is gray with a mosaic-patterned outer skin and one horned. The body size of the Javan rhinoceros is larger than the Sumatran rhinoceros, which is around 900 - 2,300 kg, its height is 1.2 - 1.7 meters and its length is 3 - 3.4m. female rhinos can be larger than males. They live in tropical rainforests, lowland forests and swampy areas. This rhinoceros prefers a habitat that is close to a water source. Javan rhinos are the most threatened of the five rhino species, with only around 76 individuals that live only in Ujung Kulon National Park in Java, Indonesia. The Javan rhinoceros is herbivorous animal that eats various types of plants, for example, leaves, twigs and fallen fruits. Apart from humans, whom they usually avoid, adult rhinos have no natural predators in their territory. Very small cubs may be preyed upon, if left unsupervised, usually by leopards, Sumatran tigers or, rarely, crocodiles. Initially, the number of rhinos decreased due to poaching, but nowadays the main threats to rhinos are poaching and loss of habitat. Illegal poaching and the illegal trade in rhino horns have increased sharply since 2007 and are still one of the main reasons why rhinos are still threating extinction today.
