6a. The first President of the US. He established many of the procedures that future presidents have followed

6a. Angry farmers rebelled against taxes. The government response proved that the new Constitution was strong enough to protect its people.

6a. Served as Washington’s Secretary of the Treasury. He believed a strong national government was necessary to direct the nation’ interests.

6b. The second President. He faced many problems and criticisms during his time in office.

6b. Laws passed that limited criticism of the government and limited immigrant participation in elections. Many were upset by these laws.

6a. These groups argued about how the government should be run. Thomas Jefferson led a group that fought for smaller government and Alexander Hamilton led a group that wanted a stronger national government.

6c. Jefferson doubled the size of the country by buying the Louisiana territory. He originally wanted to purchase New Orleans.

6d. The fourth President of the US. He was President during the War of 1812.
