Stewardship

Christians, Muslims, and Jewish people believe that God created each of us ​ (a)   , as special individuals. We each have a ​ (b)   , which will live on after we die. As life is so special, it should be protected and not ​ (c)   .

The Bible states that "The earth is the ​ (a)   and everything in it." This clearly shows that Christians have a special role on earth, to look after the world and everything in it for God. In addition, many Christians are motivated to do environmental work because they will face God on the Day of Judgement where they will be punished or ​ (b)   for their actions.

Muslims also believe that creation in its entirety is the work of God and humans are ​ (a)   (guardians) of the world. The Qur'an states "The world is green and ​ (b)   , and Allah has appointed you His stewards over it." Looking after the world shows respect to Allah.

Furthermore, the Prophet Muhammad in the Hadith said of the world "Do not seek from it more than what you ​ (a)   ." This suggests that Muslims should not be ​ (b)   or exploit the world's resources; instead, they have a duty to pass on the world in a condition that is fit for others to live in.

Buddhists, Hindus, and Sikhs also believe that all of creation (including animals and the natural world) are ​ (a)   . For Sikhs and Hindus, every form of life contains the ​ (b)   of God and so we treat everything with that in mind.
