"Outlaw": alignment

• Both DEs are in 6-techs (head up on the Tight End)

  Both DTs are in 2-techs (head up on guard)

• Both DEs are in 9-techs (outside the Tight End)

  Both DTs are in 2-techs (head up on guard)

• Both DEs are in 6-techs (head up on TE)

  Both DTs are in 3-techs (outside shoulder of the guard)

• DEs line up in 6-techs (head up on TE)

  DTs line up on the strong side of the guard (2i-tech on weak side and 3-tech on strong side)

"Outlaw": DT run fits

• Shooting the A gap, fighting pressure with pressure

• Shooting strong side gap, fight pressure with pressure

• Weak side is A gap

  Strong side is B gap

• Go to the gap where they think the ball is going, doing the LB's job for him

Do DEs box (take on the puller) or spill (wrong arm the puller)?

• They are box players, protecting C gap

• They are spill players, giving up C/D gap

Are DTs box (take on the puller) or spill (wrong arm the puller)

• They are box players, there is no help out the outside

• They are spill players, there are at least 2 players with outside responsibilities to help

The guard in front of the DT pulls, what should he do?

• Stay where you are, just in case

• Give up, he's too fast

• Eyes go to backfield and attack the ball carrier

• Follow the guard tight to the line, he will take you to where the play is

"Outlaw": DE run fits

• Shoot C gap (inside the TE, fighting pressure with pressure

• Shoot D gap (outside the TE) and do the Bandit or Falcon's job for him

"Base": Alignment

• DEs= 5-tech (outside shoulder) on the Tackle, unless there is a Tight End.

  DTs= On the strong side shoulder of the guard (2i-tech on weak side, and 3-tech on the strong side.

• DEs= 2 yards outside of the Tackle

  DTs= On the strong side shoulder of the guard (2i on weak side and 3-tech on strong side)

• Everyone is head up.

• DEs in 5-tech (outside shoulder of the Tackle)

  DTs in 2-techs (head up on guards)

"Base": Run fits

• DEs= C gap (outside of Tackle) containing everything inside.

  Strong side DT= B gap (between guard and tackle)

  Weak side DT= A gap (between guard and center)

• DEs= C gap (outside of tackle)

  Strong side DT= A gap (between guard and center)

  Weak side DT= B gap (between guard and tackle)

• DEs are free to just make a play

  DTs play both gaps

What does "Jet" mean for the entire D-line?

• Bull rush

• Pass rush immediately with rip, swim, slide by, spin, and/or bull rush

• Pass rush after getting run fit

• Nothing, its for the Linebackers

"Outlaw": DE blitz responsibilities

• Bandit switch= Right side DE rips to outside contain of the TE

  Falcon switch= Left side DE rips to outside contain of the TE

  No other blitzes change their gap

• Bandit crash= Right side DE rips to outside contain

  Falcon crash= Left side DE rips to outside contain

• Bandit switch= Left side DE rips to outside contain

  Falcon switch= Right side DE rips to outside contain

• Swarm or Twister= DEs go inside the tackle (B gap)
