The Legend of Crying Stone
Once upon a time, in a small village in Kalimantan, there lived a poor widow with her only daughter. The daughter was very beautiful but had a bad personality. She was lazy, spoiled, and never helped her mother. Despite being poor, she loved to dress up and wanted to look rich.
One day, the daughter asked her mother to buy her new clothes. "Mother, I want a new dress for the market. I want to look like a rich girl," she demanded. Even though the widow had no money, she agreed because she loved her daughter very much.
They went to the market together. The daughter walked proudly in her new dress, pretending to be from a wealthy family. Along the way, they met many people. Surprisingly, the daughter did not acknowledge her mother. When someone asked, "Is that your mother?" she answered, "No, she is my servant!"
The poor widow was heartbroken but said nothing. This happened several times, and the daughter continued to deny her mother. Unable to bear the humiliation, the mother finally prayed, "Oh God, punish my ungrateful child!"
Suddenly, the sky darkened, and lightning struck. The daughter began to cry as her body started to turn to stone. She begged for forgiveness, but it was too late. Slowly, she became a stone, known today as the Crying Stone.
